Yes, we ARE sick of the protests

Let me just say that I don't think it's necessarily white people that are against all this protesting garbage...it's conservatives....who happen to be primarily white.

What this writer fails to realize is that we've come to a point in society where so many liberals are protesting so much crap that a protest doesn't mean anything anymore.

A good portion of these "protestors" do nothing to help their cause. They are violent, aggressive and hateful. And when you attempt to ask them what they are protesting, they can't give you a straight answer.

Protests seem to be the "cool" thing to do and a large portion of the country is sick & tired of hearing about garbage that isn't true.

Trump is a fascist!
All conservatives are racist!
All cops are bad!

Just stop it!

Ever since the democrats lost they've been hell bent on tearing our country apart. The media will twist the truth so much that it starts more protests yet the folks attending don't even know what they are protesting against.

They blame Trump for everything, especially the racial divide but groups like black lives matter have done nothing put increase the division that Obama started during his terms at President.

If you really want to make a difference then do something other than take a knee or clash with other protestors that have different views.

We are sick of the whining about inequality. We are sick of your demands for safe spaces, special treatment and reparations. We are sick of it. We are all Americans so how about you stop acting like a bunch of spoiled brats and do something important?

We don't take you seriously anymore because all your protesting & whining has done nothing but cause more divide and anger in the country.

Does Change.Org really have a purpose?

So, the newest Change.Org campaign is to get people to protest in an effort to get Trump to release his tax returns.

1. His tax returns before he was president are really none of our damn business.

2. If there was any proof he was doing anything illegal, the IRS would be all over him

3. Will seeing his returns actually "change" anything? What difference does it make?

If you really want to make change in our country you might start by helping out the homeless, veterans, children...in your own cities. Walking around with some poorly worded signs will do nothing but show the world, once again, how truly clueless you people are.

For all their claims of wanting gun sense, they sure are opposed to common sense ideas. I fail to comprehend how teaching kids about gun safety is considered a bad idea.

I would think that, since their attempts to ban guns entirely has failed, they'd accept that teaching people how to properly handle a gun is a good idea. Apparently, it's all or nothing with these folks. They want to completely disarm those that are legal gun owners so we have no way to protect ourselves against those that care nothing about the laws and obtain guns illegally.

It's really scary that these people are allowed to reproduce and raise children. Lord help our future with these people still breathing and exercising their 1st amendment rights.

Teaching our kids how the terrorists feel

PBS has come out with a series to teach high school kids how the terrorists feel. It includes interviews with failed suicide bombers, recruiters, etc.

WHY????

We should be teaching our kids that terrorists are the enemy and we should stop them at all costs. Not make them concerned about how hard their lives are and that we should feel bad for them.

There is a time and place for empathy. None of those include anyone that has participated in any activity that was meant to harm other people. These people are evil and should all die. Not be treated as victims for the choices they made to get involved in these groups that seek to kill innocent people.

Stop helping the predators

Haley Power had this to say on facebook.

I shared a bathroom with a transgender woman today. I had my 3 babies, a duffel sized diaper bag, 2 dirty diapers and 0 patience. I also had 0 handguns and my husband, a voting republican, was certainly not there. Do you know what ghastly things happened to me? She handed me my wipes when I dropped them off the table. She had the audacity to smile at me and tell me that my children are beautiful. Then she proceeded to act all nonchalant and walk in a stall to do her business. Crazy right! You know what didn't happen? I didn't get molested! I wasn't grabbed inappropriately, and I actually didn't feel scared! Using a bathroom at a gas station with no door makes me feel scared. Using a bathroom at a drive in movie theatre puts me in a compromising situation. Using the bathroom with a transgender woman (who has been victimized the better part of her life I am sure!) who APOLOGIZED TO ME FOR POTENTIALLY MAKING ME UNCOMFORTABLE didn't scare me at all, though? I have cried for her, to her, and about her all afternoon. People! Your wives and daughters aren't safe in a public restroom as it is! If you believe that criminals obey the law, then I am certain you're voting to abolish guns for the protection of your family, too? Right? Wait.... Use your common sense, stay alert, and be so cautious of your surroundings, but especially of your words. If you put your hate out into the world, it might just turn around and be your little boy who decides that he is a woman one day. Stop the hate!

My response is this: It's not the transgendered folks you have to be afraid of. It's those pretending to be, and there have been several stories of this happening. Will a law protect them from prosecution? Until someone can tell me how to tell them apart, I'm not going to be in favor of this.

I want to know what transgendered people were doing before the law. I'd imagine they were using whatever bathroom reflects the gender they identify with and nobody was the wiser. I'd like to know why this has become such a hot topic all of the sudden? The trangender population is tiny (less than 1% I believe) compared to the overall US population so I find it hard to believe that many trans people are even having issues with this.

Yes, criminals break laws so let's not make laws in their favor when they decide to prey upon us.

No pledge allowed but you must recite the Quran?

Most schools have banned the pledge of allegiance because of the words "under god". Heaven forbid we risk offending someone by saying words that don't agree with their religion, right? Fine, we can get beyond that.

This is what I cannot get past. How in the hell is it acceptable to ban a parent from school grounds for objecting to his child being forced to learn and recite muslim doctrine? We won't allow god to be mentioned and don't think about bringing a bible to school but we sure want you to know about what the muslims are doing in their lives.

This school should be ashamed of forcing this on the students. I don't blame the dad at all and if they refuse to let him attend gradation, I'd sue the shit out of them. Heck, I might sue anyway for making my child complete schoolwork of this nature. Keep religion to yourself and don't try to claim it's history related. You can teach religion without making the students learn and recite their beliefs like this.

I vote YES on welfare drug testing

I know it's not a popular subject and the argument is that it costs too much to drug test everyone when the majority of people aren't taking drugs. Unfortunately, I'm not really buying into that theory because what we could save in pay outs could offset the costs of the testing itself.

If the test is done once a year and costs an average of $30, just deduct that cost from their monthly pay out. Spread it over a couple months and they won't even notice that much difference, then the tax payers don't have to cover that as well. It's a small price to pay for having someone else work to support your family.

Not to mention that some states report saving pay outs because people refuse to take the test. No lost money for a test not taken but we save the money that would have been paid out to that person if we hadn't mandated testing to begin with. Here is one story about just such an instance.

Cost of the tests averages about $30. Assuming that 1,000 to 1,500 applicants take the test every month, the state will owe about $28,800-$43,200 monthly in reimbursements to those who test drug-free.

That compares with roughly $32,200-$48,200 the state may save on one month's worth of rejected applicants.

The savings assume that 20 to 30 people -- 2 percent of 1,000 to 1,500 tested -- fail the drug test every month. On average, a welfare recipient costs the state $134 in monthly benefits, which the rejected applicants won't get, saving the state $2,680-$3,350 per month.

But since one failed test disqualifies an applicant for a full year's worth of benefits, the state could save $32,200-$48,200 annually on the applicants rejected in a single month.

Net savings to the state -- $3,400 to $8,200 annually on one month's worth of rejected applicants. Over 12 months, the money saved on all rejected applicants would add up to $40,800-$98,400 for the cash assistance program that state analysts have predicted will cost $178 million this fiscal year.

In some states, they indicated the people are losing their benefits for failing to take the mandatory drug test. I say that's a win/win but some folks think people refused the test because "it's not right". Are people living on the system really going to risk losing their main, or only, source of income on principal? I sure wouldn't.

There are tons of reports that say testing people on welfare is a waste of time. I think those of us that are busting our butts and still living paycheck to paycheck to support these folks that can't/won't work feel differently.

If I have to take a drug test to get a job so that I can be taxed to support those that don't work, they should have to be drug tested to get my hard earned money.

And I don't care what your situation is...everyone has to pass the test, regardless of how "valid" their need is.

The BIG move to a little space

Today begins the BIG move to our new, "enhanced" office. A few going today, the rest on Monday. I visited the site last night and I can say it's not quite as bad as I'd imagined but it's definitely about 10 steps down from where we are now. My starting cubicle at CMC was way better than these things.

They're bringing in food for us today. I imagine because they think that'll soften the blow but they have no idea just how upsetting this is to most of us.

It's as if they are saying that we aren't even important enough to get a real desk. We have room for the basics and that's about it. Barely any room for even a photo of your family.

Seriously, they look like something you'd see in a call center in India...just about 1ft wider. There is no privacy so I don't know how they expect us to be productive, make calls, deal with customers, etc when there is another rep close enough to rub elbows with.

And, the windows we were all so excited about are a total joke. They are about 2ft wide & 4ft high and tinted so the amount of actual light getting through is minimal. Oh, and there are only a few of them. They made it out as if there were walls of windows. #AllLies

I sure hope they don't try to make a huge celebration out of this because it's definitely not the upgrade they kept promising.

We can't all be #1

When I was a kid, there were rewards for doing better than your peers. Prizes for being the best. Consequences if you didn't do so hot. These days, everyone has to be a winner because nobody wants to make a kid feel bad for not being the best.

Welcome to life! It's time for a reality check! You can't be the best at everything.

Sometimes you can't be the best at anything. That's what life is about and this sense of entitlement and false sense of success has got to stop!

Even employers display this mentality in so many ways:

- Sending out blanket emails rather than addressing issues directly with the employee in question
- Refusing to provide advancement goals to employees that want to improve
- Sweeping things under the rug by giving all the "screw ups" to one employee to "fix"
- Promoting all employees at the same time, without true validation of achievement

I've tried everything I can to expand my knowledge and get to the next level of my position...and I DID IT; however, it means nothing when you find out that everyone else also got promoted at the same time. In addition, I'm flabbergasted by the fact that I got promoted by only "earning" an overall ranking of MEETS EXPECTATIONS on my annual review.

How can that be? Are we again rewarding everyone to keep from upsetting anyone that might be struggling? Clearly we aren't addressing issues so the mistakes can be corrected, nor are we coaching our employees so we can pick out those with leadership potential and promote where appropriate. It's much easier to promote everyone and move on. Especially when there's nobody paying attention enough to question it.

We can't all be #1. We can't all be the best. You have to have leaders and followers in your company or you will never get anything done. Coach your people. Watch what they are doing. Interact with them and listen to their ideas, their wishes, their goals, etc.

You should NEVER promote based on a ranking of meets expectations. If that's the best I can do, maybe I don't belong here at all! If all I can do is meet expectations, I have no business being a leader for anyone so DO NOT PROMOTE ME!

Far be it from me to stop you from ruining your life, I'm only your mother!

3rd week of school and the inevitable has happened. I got an email from one of Josh's teachers because he is failing to do his work. I should have expected it but I'm extremely disappointed. I've had several conversations with him about being truthful with me and not lying about anything. Apparently, that means nothing. Lying is one thing that I absolutely cannot tolerate and my son has been lying to me every friggin' day!

Every day I ask if he has homework and he says NO. I even check his agenda and his backpack to make sure there aren't things he has "forgotten" about and there is never anything in there but the occasional graded paper. This means that he's purposely omitting his assignments from his agenda so I won't know that he's not doing his work until it's too late! This must stop right now! I'm so sick of spending every school year, checking his grades online, digging through his pockets and backpack, looking for homework that just isn't there. I don't know what he is doing with it but he's NOT bringing it home.

I don't understand why anyone would want to fail simply because they didn't try. That is probably my 2nd biggest pet peeve...people that don't even try. Being lazy about something that is so simple really makes me angry.

At what point do you say "If you want to ruin your life, be a moron, flunk out of school and live on welfare forever...that's your problem". I don't know how much more of this I can take. If things don't change soon, something drastic may have to happen. Anyone know any good military schools? I'm not kidding! :(

What the hell is wrong with me?

I was so confident that I would start out this week, watch what I ate, log every single bite and work out. Yeah, that's not been happening. I don't know why I can't get my willpower to actually do its' job and stop me from eating crap that I know I shouldn't? It's like my brain is completely out of control and it wants me to eat everything!

Right now I'm sitting here thinking I'd love nothing more than some cheddar cheese, boneless wings from BWW and a can of pringles! I'm even bargaining with myself about how much exercise I need to do to eat all that! Ridiculous, I know but it's how my brain works right now.

Tomorrow is weigh in day and I'm pretty sure that it's not going to be pretty. I guess I could just eat nothing the rest of the day so there's nothing in my stomach to weigh me down. That just seems extreme. So frustrated with myself right now.
