Do black lives really matter?

Black lives matter... That phrase is all over social media these days. Problem is, black lives only seem to matter when they are killed by a white cop. Where is BLM when blacks are killing each other in Chicago EVERY SINGLE DAY? Where were they when a black retired officer was killed trying to defend a friend's store that was being looted and destroyed by rioters? Where were they when a food truck vendor was killed while trying to make a living during these violent "protests"?

If you're going to claim black lives matter then you'd better be just as outraged by blacks killed by blacks as you are those killed by a white cop. You'd better be even more enraged when black business owners are attacked and their stores destroyed in the midst of your "protest".

These people are destroying their own neighborhoods, for what? What lesson does that teach corrupt cops? What change does that make when you continue to vote in the same democrats year after year when they continue to do nothing for your community? Do you know what your violent actions show the rest of the world? It shows me that you are vile, inhumane people that don't give a shit about George Floyd. You wanted a crisis so you could continue to play the victim while blaming everyone else for your failures. You're using George's death as an excuse to violate the rights of others while claiming that yours have been taken away.

You want to know why so many folks are leery of black people? Because of folks like those that are "protesting" by attacking other people. By ruining the livelihoods of people that had nothing to do with George's death. The looting of stores caused businesses to shut down, putting people out of work. So all you've done in your search for "justice" is make yourselves look like animals, lose support from over half the country and hurt thousands of innocent people, many of whom are black as well.

You have a right to be irate. Your anger is justified. What happened to George Floyd should have never been allowed and the entire country is in agreement that these officers should be charged with murder. You DO NOT have the right to infringe on other people's rights in order to express that anger. At least not without consequences.

So, if you're going to attack innocent people & businesses, burn down buildings and disregard barriers and requests from law enforcement that are in place to keep people safe...don't complain when people fight back. Don't play the victim or cry injustice when a business or homeowner shoots someone for attacking their home or store. Don't cry about excessive force when you get in a cops face in an attempt to push through a security barrier and they pepper spray you or throw you down and arrest you.

We are through with your excuses. There is no reason for police brutality. There's even less reason for these riots and attacks that are happening as a result. You must learn that your vote is the most powerful tool of all if you want change. It's time to clean house and get rid of the folks that have been telling you what's best for many years. Stop blindly following what they say. Do some research and vote for the change you claim you want. Because the current method you're employing leads me to believe you like playing the victim.

It's not about gun control

I may sound like that insensitive prick that has no compassion after a tragic event. That's simply not true but I'm sick and tired of gun grabbers immediately turning these events into a call for more gun control.

I have no problem with background checks and such to ensure that's guns don't wind up in the hands of unstable folks. However, I'm not on board with some of the suggestions of these folks that are so afraid of guns that they think nobody should have them.

Criminals break laws. No amount of restrictions are going to stop bad guys from getting guns and creating havoc. All you'll do by outlawing guns is prevent law abiding citizens from protecting themselves when confronted with these lunatics.

You'll notice that nearly every mass shooting occurs in a "Gun Free Zone". Why do you suppose that is? Because criminals know there's nobody there to stop them before they cause a large amount of devastation. Putting up these signs is nothing more than an advertisement for the nut cases to attack.

What we need to fix is the people problem that has become apparent during the last 10-15 years. People have no respect for others or themselves. They believe life is disposable & care nothing for the feelings or needs of others.

Until we fix the people, the violence will continue.

You can't regulate stupidity, morality or courtesy (Or, a world full of assholes)

The Political Parent claims "I'M DONE"!!

I never cease to be amazed at these people.

#NotOneMore they yell...yet they cannot provide one ounce of proof that making it harder for honest citizens to get guns will stop the bad guys from getting them. I'd just like one of them to stop their ranting, about how horrible the NRA and gun owners are, and explain to me why they believe that criminals, who don't obey the current laws, are going to become law abiding citizens if we put new laws in place.

Like they are going to say "hey, this is new...maybe we should follow the laws now". No, that's not how it works. That's never how it's worked. And if they'd look at the facts a little more closely they'd see that there are many situations where a good guy with a gun has stopped a bad guy with a gun before more fatalities occurred.

This "74 school shootings" quote that they are all referencing is from a member of the Everytown crowd and they admit that their statistics include assaults, homicides and suicides. I'd wager that they also include instances that happened "near" a school or a school sponsored activity and not actually at the school where the kids were at all.

I believe 1 of them was a teacher that committed suicide, after school hours, in his office. Noone else was around. I hardly think that qualifies as "gun violence".

It amazes me that these people think you can regulate common sense, courtesy, decency, morality! It's not going to happen, people. You have to deal with the real problem, which is the fact that the US has become a country full of entitled assholes that don't feel they have any consequences for their actions and no respect for others.

Until people stop being worthless wastes of space, the problem will remain.

It's not all about you

When will we stop focusing on these mass killing sprees and worry about the daily violence that is taking people out daily? How about ending the focus on banning guns and worry about the other ordinary household items that are being used to kill people on a daily basis such as butcher knives, screwdrivers, etc.

I don't know if it's completely accurate or not but the graphics at this link provide some interesting data regarding the types of guns used for mass shootings, how they were obtained, etc. The comments on the website provide some additional insight that might get you thinking about your current stance on this subject.

Again, it all comes back to the people behind the violence. A gun, knife or other sharp object will do nothing without the force of a person behind it. I think we can all agree that anyone that thinks it's acceptable to kill anyone else for no reason is not sane.

People need to take more responsibility for their actions, their possessions, etc. Take the feelings and lives of other people into consideration before doing or saying something. IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT YOU!

Yes, you have certain rights but...SO DO I! And your rights don't trump mine. A little common sense, common courtesy and common decency should be used when doing anything in life!

If more people had respect for others, we wouldn't be in the situations we are now.

Too many self centered, entitled people in this world that probably should have been beaten a little more as children!

Paper vs Bullets...who wins?

The answer? NOBODY WINS but the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence thinks shootings could be prevented by putting a "Gun Violence Restraining Order" in place.

There are already multiple restraining orders in place that do nothing. What good is that piece of paper when that person approaches you and you are alone, unarmed and unable to protect yourself? All that piece of paper does is make the person it is drawn against even more angry and possibly more determined to harm you.

Unless you have a police escort 24/7 a restraining order is no protection against these lunatics that are out to harm you...no matter what their method.
