Raising Taxes Impacts Us All

Biden continues to talk about how the rich need to pay their "fair share", which seems to translate into a higher tax bracket than the rest of us. For years, people have asked why we don't have a flat tax rate like 10% across the board. Seems to me, that would be the true way to calculate the "fair share" of taxes on each person or corporation.

Frankly, it pisses me off that the more hours I work, and the more money I make, the higher rate of taxes they take out. Why is that? You're penalizing me for busting my ass to feed my family. Then they take my tax money and give it to someone that isn't working at all. How is that "FAIR"??

And what does he think will happen when he raises taxes on the rich? There are 2 main options that I can see happening from this.

1. The price of consumer goods will go up to compensate for the additoinal taxes, which just screws the middle class in the end, as usual.

2. These "ultra-wealthy" folks will take their companies, and jobs, somewhere else that will give them incentives for providing the very jobs that the middle class relies on to support their families. Thus, screwing the middle class, again!

Not to mention, all he's doing it changing the starting point at which taxes are calculated. Unless he's going to do away with the loopholes and tax breaks that these folks are using to avoid paying so much, he's only changing the starting point, not the end result, like he claims. But, if he gets rid of the loopholes, he'll hurt himself and his rich friends in Washington so, that will never happen.

No work = No welfare in Indiana

Indiana, and a few other states, are back to requiring welfare recipients to work, volunteer or take classes at least 20 hours a week to remain eligible for benefits. Enrollment is reportedly down and many folks have since lost their benefits for non-compliance.

When offered assistance finding a job, less than 15% showed up for their appointment, even after follow up calls were made to help them find employment. Sadly, our state actually fared better than the country average of 12%. I guess people really don't want to work.

The burning question is, what are these folks doing now to support themselves? Were they so motivated by the requirement to get a job that they got one making enough money to live on? Are they living off someone else? Are they involved in illegal activities to make money?

Why are people so against working? Why do so many people want to live off the hard work of others?

Dear Politicians....Dumb It Down!

I'm not a complete moron. I graduated from high school. But I don't understand a thing that the politicians are talking about these days. That's probably the way they want it. Keep the majority of the population confused enough to be herded into the voting booths like sheep so they can blindly vote for whoever "their party" has endorsed.

I'm not an eloquent speaker and I don't have mass quantities of knowledge about anything that I "learned" in high school, I didn't go to college because I knew I wasn't cut out to buckle down and pay attention. Instead, I continued to work & pay taxes, which I have done since I was old enough to legally do so. However, I've never been able to fully embrace the chaos that is politics.

I never even registered to vote until I was over 30 and still haven't voted to this day. Why? Because I don't feel like I know enough about any one that is running for any office to  make an informed, educated decision. I want to weigh the facts and make that decision on my own. Unfortunately, I can't do that because I don't understand most of what the politicians are talking about. They waste so much time and effort trying to speak in big words to make themselves look smart that the average Joe can't keep up, not to mention those of us with attention span problems. I can't make it through any of their debates or speeches because it makes me want to slit my throat 2 minutes in.

If you want us to really understand what is going on and make informed decisions, sit down and speak to us like you would you kids or your friends. Don't try to impress me with your fancy speeches, that just makes you look like a pompous ass.

If your point is to keep us so confused that we don't know who to believe and vote for, you are doing a fantastic job. People complain about the government because they don't understand what or who they voted for. Why does the president need a speech writer? Can he not think and speak for himself? If not, I don't want him running the country.

All I'm asking for is that they behave more like human beings and talk to us like the average American. Not some CEO with 3 Masters degrees that's running some big company and knows all the fancy butt kissing terms. You want my vote, be "normal". I'm sick of feeling like an idiot after hearing you speak!
