Do something useful

Jay Z apparently wrote a song about police brutality a while back but didn't release it. Due to recent events, he's decided to do so. Why?

I need to find the song and listen but I'm doubtful the lyrics do much to promote anything helpful that will reduce crime. How about a song that tells kids growing up in this "thug" life that they can break the cycle, make something more of themselves and stop becoming targets for the police and other criminals?

All these folks do is invite more hatred and division by telling them it's ok to not take responsibility for their own actions. Yes, there are some crooked cops that have killed people unprovoked but there are also many more criminals that are shot while resisting, fighting, attacking...the majority of those shot by police are NOT innocent victims. Stop making them out to be.

One recent "victim" has a list of charges and arrests back to 2000 and was a deadbeat dad that was NOT what I'd consider a productive member of society. With a record like his, there was a good chance he'd be in an altercation with police at some point.

The statistics show that the # of people shot by police are not overwhelming black. In fact, more white people are shot by cops than blacks. Yes, there are more white people in the country so that # should be higher but if you're truly suggesting that cops only kill black people because they're racist, you're going to need more facts.

I'd be willing to bet that cops are more likely to shoot blacks because of their culture. What does that mean? Typically a call about an incident in a black neighborhood means the cops are being sent into hostile territory. Blacks are already being told to hate & kill the cops so why would you not expect the cops to already be on edge before they arrive? You get called to a neighborhood with known gang and crime problems and know there's a good chance you're going to get shot at or attacked. They can't take that chance.

Until people that are caught up in this life take the initiative to get themselves out and break the cycle nothing will change. They'll keep committing crimes, get roughed up by the cops and then blame racist society for keeping them down.

You have to want to change and for many, it's just easier to play the victim.

Thanks for stopping by. If you have feedback, please leave it. I may have strong feelings about things but I know that doesn't make them right...all the time. Give me your perspective but...be nice! I don't need a bunch of strangers being nutso in my life! :) Thanks
